ABOUT ME

Hello, Vanakkam,

Welcome to Tamil Montessori.

I’m Monisha, an expat mom from India who calls the United States as the home for a decade. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband, 2 daughters and hundreds of plant babies inside and around our home. I love what I do as a Product Manager at Xbox – Microsoft and I do what I love through this space by sharing my love for all things Tamil and Montessori. We’re a bilingual home; we speak English and Tamil. To us, Tamil is more than just a language; it’s also about the food, clothes, festivals, music, cultural values and more.

From being a Montessori child to a Montessori parent, I continue to learn Dr. Montessori’s works to feed my passion for child development. I’m an AMI certified Montessori Assistant for 0-3, 3-6 and 6-12 years. Here are 5 Montessori fun facts about me.

I’m also a children’s book author; I write children’s books in Tamil that are Montessori-friendly and aligned with Tamil culture. My book baby #1 “Vaazhai ilai virundhu” was released in Sep 2021, followed by “Pongalo Pongal” in Jan 2022. Vaazhai ilai virundhu was the winner of 2021 Top South Asian Children’s Books – Board Book Category awarded by Tokabox.

Check out my children’s Tamil books here.

I’ve also had the honor of being a presenter at various International Montessori conferences.

Tamil Montessori is the brainchild of my love for all things Tamil and Montessori. Through this space I share snippets of raising my daughters the Montessori way from birth, cultural resources to help children stay connected to the roots by incorporating Montessori philosophy, and also share age-appropriate multilingual resources. I’m so glad to have created this space which has helped me connect with so many families across the globe.

Thank you for being a part of my virtual family. ❤
